Women's Flourish Formation

    Flourish Women's Ministry

Growing Together in Faith at First Presbyterian Church Douglasville

Flourish Women's Ministry is the women's ministry of First Presbyterian Church Douglasville, providing opportunities for women to grow in their faith, build meaningful friendships, and become more deeply rooted in God's Word.

Whether you've been part of FPC Douglasville for years or you're looking for a welcoming church in Douglasville, GA, Flourish offers a place where women of all stages of life can connect, study the Bible, and encourage one another as they follow Christ.

    Flourish Formation- Spiritual Formation

Flourish Formation is a year-long spiritual formation group for women who desire to go deeper in their relationship with God through Scripture, prayer, and intentional spiritual practices.

Participants read a book together throughout the year and engage in monthly spiritual practices designed to strengthen their faith. On the third Sunday of most months, the group gathers to discuss the reading, meditate on Scripture, pray together, and practice silence and solitude.

We place a high value on commitment, so if you don’t think you can make almost all of the meetings, it might not be the best fit for you. We’ll only meet for nine gatherings: August 16, September 20, October 18, November 15, January 17, February 21, March 21, April 18, and May 16. The hope is that by having the dates in advance, you can plan ahead to be present.

If you are interested in the group but want to learn more before committing, feel free to reach out to Melanie Gibbs with questions, or come to our August gathering to check it out. Please register on Next Steps if you are planning to attend the August meeting. Childcare will be available if requested by August 9.

2026-2027 Flourish Formation Book & Time Details

    Meeting monthly on 3rd Sundays, 2:00 – 4:30 p.m., beginning August 16, 2026.

This spiritual formation group will gather monthly to dig deep into the book Prayer: Finding the Heart’s True Home by Richard Foster. Described as “a warm, compelling, and sensitive primer on prayer, helping us to understand, experience, and practice it in its many forms-from the simple prayer of beginning again to unceasing prayer,” this book shows how prayer can move us inward into personal transformation, upward toward intimacy with God, and outward to minister to others.

Have you ever felt your prayers go unanswered? Or wondered how a finite person can commune with the infinite Creator of the universe? Or questioned whether prayer isn't merely psychological manipulation? Or been unsure how to begin praying at all? This book addresses those “knotty questions” without judgment.

In addition to our book discussion, we’ll hold space for silence, make time for personal reflection and meditation on scripture, and we’ll engage in conversation about our personal faith journeys. Think of this as a monthly “mini-retreat” – some time to set apart to be with God and one another. The intent is for this group to be a rich time of community and spiritual growth!
