Community Ministries

Local ministries you can support

Community Partners Current Needs:

1.    Good Samaritan Center: 8366 Grady Street, Douglasville, GA

Food supply in the local grocery stores is low, which has significantly lowered our donations. The Atlanta Community Food Band is providing food at low cost. We are receiving deliveries weekly now instead of monthly, which is increasing our expense by at least 50%.

·     Please pray for the ministry’s needs

·     Monetary donations http://goodsamaritancenter-douglasville.com

·     We still need plastic bags, and volunteers to fill them. We have discontinued our client choice, so volunteers are bagging the food and the clients stay outside. We aim to have 5-6 people in our pantry each day, so social distancing is not a problem.

2.    The Pantry: 9633-A HWY 5, Douglasville, GA

Due to the buying habits of people during this time of stay in place they have seen a 90% reduction in food supplied by supermarkets.

a.  Frank and Pam Smith are asking for prayer for the ministry.

b.    They are requesting financial donations more than food donations as they can bulk by food from the Atlanta Community Food Bank for pennies on the dollar:

c.    They have seen the number of people wanting food increase. They are needing to limit the amount of people they are serving and contact with people as well. They are spreading out when they serve people and are starting to serve people earlier on Saturday morning. They are requesting people come earlier to serve, especially between 7am and 9am.

3.    PRC Medical: 3030 Chapel Hill Road, Douglasville GA 30135

PRC is still open to clients in need of clinic services, but they have reduced their staff to two essential workers.

a.    They are requesting prayers for the protection, health and safety of their staff and clients

b.    Donations of diapers and formula can still be dropped off but should be sanitized beforehand.

c.    https://partnersofprc.com gives guidance about ways to support the ministry.

d.    FPC is still planning to do our annual Baby Bottle Fundraiser later this year.

4.    Gift of Love: 10541 Veterans Memorial HWY, Lithia Springs GA

Continue to feed children who attend Douglas County Schools and are in need of food. Clients are being asked to call ahead and make an appointment to keep in compliance with social distancing. They are being required to make appointments every two weeks to make the food reach as many families as possible. Ways to help:

·     Pray for the ministry. They are trying to provide their service to the end of the school year. Costs are higher due to restrictions on food normally purchased.

·     Donate food

·     Donate money or gift cards https://giftofloveservice.com/home
